Local Law 196 of 2017 requires construction and demolition workers at most major NYC job sites to have 40 hours of Site Safety Training. This is required for all NYC jobsites that have a Site Safety Plan . Upon completion of this training, workers receive a Site Safety Training (SST) Card that must be shown to enter job sites. There are different routes to take when obtaining your SST card and courses and requirements are different depending on the workers past training experience and/or job title. DOB set the full compliance deadline for Local Law 196 to March 1st, 2021, ensuring that ample time was provided so that all workers required are in compliance.
